- October 7, 2007 – Running with the Bulls
The Running of the Bulls welcomes everyone to a morning of fun-filled athletics for the whole family. The Running of the Bulls 5k Run & Walk and the Running of the Calves Kids' Fun Run are humanely inspired by the annual bull-running in Pamplona, Spain. Here in Palo Alto, the Bulls and Cows are Olympic athletes in costume! The Olympic Bulls and Cows have a delayed start and run in timed intervals, so, whether you run or walk, you’re bound to rub hooves with one along the way. Beat one to the finish line, and you’ll win the prize associated with that Bull! Mingle with them and graze on delicious treats from the sponsors after the race.
The Bulls 5k event is a fundraiser for Palo Alto Schools through Partners in Education and an official training event for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training. - May 3, 2008 – May Fete Town Fair
- August 2008 – Italian Street Painting Festival at the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts
Palo Alto Festival of Arts will be held on August 25th and 26th from 10am to 6pm. During the festival, Tasso Street is closed off for the Italian Street Painting Festival. Professional, amateur and student artists all participate in this exciting event to “paint” large pictures on the pavement with colored chalk. There is also a special section set aside for young artists aged 2-12 to paint 2’ x 2’ squares.
Palo Alto Partners in Education (PiE) is the proud organizer for the Italian Street Painting Festival. The proceeds raised from this event are used to support teacher grants and the arts in the Palo Alto Unified School District.
