Our Programs
Ohlone Elementary School
For the 2011-2012 school year, generous donations from parents and
community members have allowed PiE to provide $192,394 for use at Ohlone.
During this school year, the funds:
- Pay for more than half of the general classroom aide time, so that all classrooms
receive multiple hours of vital classroom aide time weekly. Aides are an important
part of the classroom experience at Ohlone, allowing teachers to work in small
groups or individually with students in every classroom
- Fund more time for the reading and math specialists (Gina Fortt and June Fuji), so
that all these wonderful teachers can mentor and coach classroom teachers,
benefitting all children at Ohlone. The specialists will also work with any children
who need extra help throughout the yearr
- Fund 100% of Spectra Art at Ohlone, so that all students can benefit from regular
art instruction to enhance curriculum
- Pay for 100% of the farm science specialist, Tanya Buxton, so that all students
can learn from the beauty and wonder of the live and growing things on the Ohlone
farm
“Donations to PiE make Ohlone a much better place than it could be
without PiE funding. PiE dollars allow us to enrich our program with aides, reading,
math, science and art. Each of these is vital to the kind of education we care about
at our special, child-centric school.”
- Bill Overton, Ohlone Principal
