Italian Street Painting Festival

Palo Alto Festival of Arts is held every August in downtown Palo Alto. During the festival, Tasso Street (off University) is closed off for the Italian Street Painting Festival. Professional, amateur and student artists all participate in this exciting event to “paint” large pictures on the pavement with pastel chalk. There is also a special section set aside for young artists aged 2-12 to paint 2’ x 2’ squares.

Free to the public, each large artist’s chalk drawing is sponsored by local businesses and families with all proceeds benefiting PiE’s Teacher Grant program. The Teacher Grant program is open to all PAUSD teachers and awards $50,000 in grants twice a year for innovative classroom programs and projects.

Palo Alto Partners in Education (PiE) has been the proud organizer for the Italian Street Painting Festival for the past 7 years.

To become a sponsor, sign-up as an artist, or learn more about the Palo Alto Festival of
the Arts, please contact Cindy Ziebelman, 2cindy@gmail.com.
