How We Help
Hoover Elementary School
"Talented, enthusiastic, caring, people are the heart and soul of Hoover's extraordinary
programs! PiE funds pay for 100 percent of the Instructional Assistants and part of the
professional staff that are vital to enrich and extend our programs in language arts, Reading
Recovery, math, science, and art in each of our classrooms. Every student is touched by the
people PiE funds, and the benefits are boundless as our ability to provide strong support that
allows each student to reach her or his full academic potential and become productive,
well-rounded citizens, is strengthened and broadened. Our sincere thanks to PiE donors!"
– Katy Bimpson, Hoover Lead Learner (Principal)
For the 2012-2013 school year, generous gifts from parents and community members have allowed
PiE to provide $153,610 for use at Hoover. These funds will be used for these vital
programs affecting every child at Hoover:
-
To pay for Spectra art lessons weekly for every classroom, to ensure every child is exposed
to the creativity and challenge of art
-
To fund 100% of the Instructional Assistants for Science, to ensure that every child has the
opportunity for hands-on science exploration
-
To pay for 100% of the Instructional Assistants in reading and math (two in each) who work
with every classroom weekly to enhance instruction and enable powerful small group teaching
and learning
-
To support the Reading Recovery program for early grade students to ensure that all students
acquire the crucial skills and strategies to read well before third grade
