Megan Swezey Fogarty (picture available)
Megan Swezey Fogarty is the Postgraduate and Alumni Program Director at the Haas Center for Public Service at Stanford University after serving for two years as staff advisor to the Call to Serve project, a national effort to encourage students to pursue government leadership. Prior to this she served as Nonprofits Liaison for State Assemblyman (now State Senator) Joe Simitian. She continues as host of Senator Simitian’s cable television show, Capitol Focus.
Since 1986, Fogarty has worked in non-profit program development and management primarily with organizations focused on involving young people in national and community service, including Teen Coordinator for the City of Palo Alto, Founder of Youth Community Service, Executive Director of Youth Service California, and Outreach Coordinator for the Service Learning 2000 Center in the Stanford School of Education.
Community involvement includes service with Partners in Education (PiE); Palo Alto Community Child Care; City of Palo Alto Comprehensive Plan Committee; Adolescent Counseling Services; Leadership Mid-Peninsula; Family Resource Center Implementation Team; Mothers’ Symposium; Palo Alto Community Fund and local political campaigns, among many others. She was raised in Palo Alto in a family of nine children and holds BA degrees from Stanford University and an MPA from Notre Dame de Namur University. Her three children attend JLS Middle School and El Carmelo Elementary.
